I like my guitar stand. It looks much better than the cardboard box I was using and folds up nice and neat. It comes with a bag I've yet to use and what I think is a super feature is a little rubber gate thingy that keeps the guitar from coming off the stand. A steal at the price. I got the music stand too made by the same company. Bargain prices for nice quality. I'm happy.

Electric version of Aint it a shame recorded by members of Nirvana and the Screaming Trees in Seattle in August 1989. Featuring Nirvana's Kurt Cobain on vocals, Krist Novoselic on bass and backing vocals, and the Screaming Trees' Mark Lanegan on guitar and Mark Pickerel on drums, it was recorded for a planned Leadbelly tribute album, but the project was abandoned, and the song was not released until the 2004 Nirvana box set, With the Lights Out. The makeshift band, called the Jury, also recorded versions of "Where Did You Sleep Last Night" and "Grey Goose," and Cobain recorded a solo of "They Hung Him on a Cross."

When I first got my Dean I was pretty happy with it, but after a few weeks the top string started to not fret properly, i.e. it would sound about two frets higher than I was intending. It took me a few weeks to realize that the neck was warping. I got into the truss rod and adjusted it to the point where the frets acted the way they should but now the action is quite high and it doesn't play nearly as easily. Other than this, I have been pleased.

I coach little league and some dog's run off with second base for the third time this month. The boy's just mixed up. Charlie Christian is generally recognised as the person who popularised the electric guitar (although not the first) and who changed everyones thinking about how jazz could be played on it. As well as playing guitar for Benny Goodman, Charlie participated in after hours jam sessions with other musicians in places such as Mintons and Monroes in New York City. On 12 May 1941 Charlie played Swing to Bop at Mintons, with Joe Guy on trumpet, Kenny Kersey on piano, Nick Fenton on bass and Kenny Clarke on drums. This live track excerpt is characterised by longer solos than Charlie would typically play with Goodman, and is a good indication of his incredible improvisational abilities. His influence on guitarists then and since has been massive. Famed jazz guitarist Barney Kessel spent three days with Charlie watching him play. "He played probably 95% downstrokes and held a very stiff big triangular pick very tightly between his thumb and first finger. When I wanted to learn how to play the bass guitar, I wanted to pick up an instrument that was affordable, but would not be substandard in quality to the point that it would frustrate me.

I have really enjoyed learning with this instrument -- and am still enjoying it! I'm not a connoisseur of bass guitars, but I've been happy with the sound on this guitar, and it has been easy to play. I've been playing for about half a year, including weekly "performance" with a praise team group at my church, and I am confident it will be some time before I have "outgrown" this beginner instrument.

I docked a star from this package because, in my opinion, the rest of the accessories that come along with the bass aren't worth much. The amp will work for practice, but doesn't bring enough volume to play in a performance setting without a loud buzzing. I rarely use it.

I still use the gig bag from this package, but it has not weathered well -- another reviewer described it fairly accurately as "thin as paper". Better than not having a bag at all, but it doesn't protect the instrument. My bag (which I am pretty gentle with) has developed several small tears that are slowly getting bigger, including a decent hole by the strap near the bottom... which means that if I wait too long before picking up a new one, either the strap will snap, or the weight of the bass will make it tear through the hole and fall to the ground!

The strap does what it should (no more, no less), and I don't use the rest because I already owned good quality picks, audio cables, and tuners, that are better than what is provided here... the included tuner seems awkward to use.

Summary: It's a good beginner instrument (I still love mine!) -- but I don't really consider the rest of this "value pack" to be worth the expense, IF you are looking for accessories to keep around and use for a while. The whole package is probably worth it if you, like me when I started, are not ENTIRELY sure you are going to be sticking it out for the "long haul" with playing the bass.

SX guitars have to be the best value in a budget instrument available. I recently bought a used SX precision bass copy for $49 including a nice gig bag. I cannot get over the quality of these guitars for the price. Sure they have minor fret issues but they are very playable. I would definitely take this bass to a gig. i'm so supprised!! i thought it'd be a horrible pack but it is accually a great pack for beginers!The amp isnt that bad if your a beginer (i mean you dont know what its supposed to sound like) the dvd...meh.... its ok.. the strap isnt like beutiful or anything just like guitar hero ones lol. Unlike what others have said previously about this stand, mine has no smell. This is probably a new batch. Great deal if you can get it under ten bucks like I did. ;) Feels sturdy. Doubt the guitar can topple down easily although I have one gripe about the swinging part that holds the bottom of the guitar body. The security strap ensures that you can keep the guitar securely fasten to the stand when not in use.

I recieved this for Christmas to try and learn how to play the bass. I have been practicing with this bass around a hour to an hour and a half a every day with no problems. The instruction dvd was worth watching once and thats about it. The tuner works but you need to know that each string has a light then you tune it between the flat and sharp scale, which never playing before i didn't understand at first. Also the picks are useless most base players play with their fingers and this is even the way they show you in there dvd. Overal Its perfect for someone like me that wants to try and learn an instrument without paying 300-700 just for a good bass guitar.

i recently bought this bass because my previous practice bass broke. The bass arrived on time with no damage to the instrument. It came with a strap, cord, gig bag, spare G string, and 3 picks (all of which seemed cheap and plastic-like). The wood didn't have a finish so it's difficult to move across the fret board. Also, the overall size is smaller than what I like, but thats my own opinion. However, I love the pick-up and the strings sound great. Overall, its a good bass for beginners, but i wouldn't use it in a gig.

±1±: Best Buy I've been learning to play bass with this model for about a year and a half, and I enjoy it thoroughly. It's lighter than some instruments, but still has enough mass that it has a good tone. The neck is maybe not as slender as some fancier, faster basses, but it's still quite comfortable. It stays in tune well, and I've never had any troubles with the knobs or electronics.

With only a single pickup, and just knobs for volume and treble, you don't have much flexibility in sound. If you're just learning or playing for fun, this isn't much of an issue. The bass sounds great for a variety of jazz, blues and rock. One person I play with thinks the tone from this bass is nicer than one of his that cost about eight times as much.

A couple of other thoughts... You'll want to find a local guitar store to help you make adjustments periodically (and perhaps with initial setup), or learn to do it yourself. I use a Behringer practice amp, and it's partially responsible for the good tone that I seem to get. Finally, I rarely use a pick - if that's more your style, the lack of a pick guard might be an issue for you. on Sale!

I got this Bass for my ten year old son. We got it very fast and in good condition. I had to do a lot of adjustment with no directions. After an hour of messing around with the bridge I found the neck adjustment, then it went much better. I have a couple of six string guitars and I've never had a guitar with a neck adjustment, so it's a case of not knowing how to adjust the neck without directions. For as cheap as the price is this is a good guitar for a starter. If I had one gripe it would be to include instructions on how to adjust it in detail. Rock on.

I bought this from Amazon because the price could not be beat anywhere else. It was shipped very fast and the package was intact.

However, two things were wrong with the guitar:
1. The tuner for the high G string was stripped inside. The string could not be tuned. I had to replace this myself. Easy fix but it cost me about $20 to order a package of 4 new tuners from eBay.
2. The setup was high and the head of the intonation screw for the A string was stripped and could not be moved. It actually looked like the head was manufactured defective.

I fixed these things myself (actually, I left the intonation of the A string a little sharp because it was off by just a very very little bit).
My only recourse would have been to return the bass for a refund but I decided to keep it and do the repairs myself.
Not a realistic option for most people, I'd guess.

Other than that, the bass is very nice. I wanted a cheap bass to learn on. Silvertone quality control is just lax.
